Use a smart scale

Weigh in, and your weight comes into Fit Shapes without typing it.

Fit Shapes reads your weight and body fat from Apple Health. Any scale whose app saves your weight to Apple Health works with Fit Shapes. Fit Shapes does not connect to a scale directly.

Your weekly check-in follows your weight trend, so regular weigh-ins give it a clearer picture. A scale that syncs saves you from typing each one.

Scales we recommend

The founder of Fit Shapes uses Withings and Wyze scales with Fit Shapes.

  • Withings Body Smart (Amazon): our pick. It connects over Wi-Fi, so each weigh-in goes to the Withings app without your phone nearby. It measures weight and body fat.
  • Withings Body Comp (Amazon): the premium choice. It uses the same Withings app and Wi-Fi sync as Body Smart, and adds more body measurements. It costs more.
  • Wyze Scale X (Amazon): the budget choice. It connects over Bluetooth, so open the Wyze app after you weigh in to sync it.

Each name links to the maker’s page, and each Amazon link to the same scale on Amazon. Fit Shapes has no partnership with these companies and earns nothing from these links.

Connect a scale

  1. Set up the scale in its own app: Withings or Wyze.
  2. In that app, turn on Apple Health and allow it to write Weight and Body Fat Percentage.
  3. In Fit Shapes, connect Apple Health if you have not already.

Then weigh in. Your weight shows on the Trend Weight card on Today.

If a weigh-in does not show, open the scale’s app first, so it can save the weigh-in to Apple Health. For a Withings scale, keep Background App Refresh on for the Withings app in iPhone Settings → General.

Other scales

Before you buy, check that the scale’s app says it saves weight to Apple Health. If a scale keeps your data in its own app only, Fit Shapes cannot read it. You can always log your weight by hand.
